VPN L2TP Manual Settings for Windows 7, 8 and Vista

Here are the steps for manual VPN connection setup on Windows 7, 8 and Vista devices.

Manual VPN connection setup on Windows devices can be done according to the following steps (this tutorial is for Windows 7 and Windows 8 as well as Windows Vista).

Preparation

Select Client Area -> Services -> active service

Obtain and note the following information:

VPN server address that will be used
IPSec pre-shared secret

Settings

Select Open Network & Sharing Center
Select Setup New Connection or Network
Select Connect to a workplace, Setup dial-up or VPN Connection to your workplace. klik Next
Select No and Create New Connection and click Next
Select Use my Internet connection (VPN)
Fill in Internet address with VPN server address which has been prepared (see the section Preparation above). Fill in Destination Name : kemangVPN L2TP (or other name according to the selected server location)
Tick Don’t connect now, just set it up so I can connect later and click Next
Fill in User name and Password with username and password VPN that you received in the confirmation email (see the section Preparation above)
In this step, select Close to perform some additional settings before making a connection
Right-click on the connection you just created to open the page Properties
Select Security, tab, and
Select Type of VPN into: Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol with IPSec (L2TP/IPSec)
Select Data encryption into: Optional…
Click on Advance Settings button. Then select Use pre-shared key for authentication. Fill in Key with pre-shared key which has been prepared (see the section Preparation above). and click OK
Your VPN settings is done.
To establish a VPN connection, click on Network icon on your taskbar. Then click on your VPN connection that you created earlier. Select Connect. Wait a few moments until VPN connection is established.
You can then use other applications as usual on your device. For example, opening netflix.com from your browser.
